Tele-MANAS capacity building training concludes in Kohima

DIMAPUR

A three-day Capacity Building Training Programme for the Tele-MANAS Cell, Nagaland concluded successfully on August 13 at the Drug Controller Conference Hall, DH&FW and State Mental Health Institution, Kohima (SMHIK).
The initiative was organized under the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with NIMHANS, Bengaluru and LGBRIMH, Tezpur.
The inaugural session held on August 11 was chaired by Suyimtenla Jamir, Psychologist, TMC, with a welcome address by Dr. Chikrozho Kezo, Joint Director, DH&FW and SPO, NMHP.
S. Tainiu, secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, delivered the keynote address and inaugurated the training.
Resource experts from NIMHANS were felicitated during the programme.
Led by Dr. Swati Ravindran, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, the NIMHANS team conducted sessions on counselling techniques, ethical standards, crisis response, and tele-health delivery. LGBRIMH contributed virtually, reinforcing best practices in tele-mental health services.
Interactive modules enabled participants to enhance their competencies in patient engagement, risk assessment, and follow-up care.
On the concluding day, counsellors underwent a structured assessment at SMHIK and were successfully accredited, strengthening Nagaland’s mental health workforce.
The Tele-MANAS initiative, launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, offers free 24×7 tele-mental health support via toll-free helpline 14416, accessible in multiple languages.
