Lions Club of Dimapur celebrates Janmashtami

DIAMPUR

The Lions & Leo Club, Dimapur celebrated its annual Janmashtami Mahotsav with vibrant festivities at the club premises in Nepali Gaon, Dimapur, under the chairmanship of Lion Sarthak Kala, Leo Ayush Jain, and Leo Akash Minda on August 16.
One of the main attractions of the day was the fancy dress competition, which saw 117 children participate across two age categories: 0–6 years and 7–12 years. The competition brought out the creativity and festive spirit of the young participants, many of whom were dressed as Lord Krishna, Radha, and other mythological figures.
Rosy Malik and Rishav Poddar, who served as judges for the event, selected three winners from each category and also presented a Judges’ Choice Award for exceptional performance.
The celebration also featured the traditional Matki Phod competition, which drew enthusiastic participation from six teams, each comprising 30 members. According to Leo President Vishal Pareek, the event attracted a large crowd of spectators, with Team Bihari Yuva Manch emerging victorious in a spirited contest.
The celebration commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, officially inaugurating the event. Club president Lion Sanjay Jaiswal addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Janmashtami as a celebration of cultural heritage and community spirit.
