SBCK celebrates pre-centenary jubilee of youth department

DIMAPUR

Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) observed the Pre-Centenary Celebration of its Youth Department on August 17. The occasion was marked by enthusiastic participation, heartfelt worship, and profound messages of renewal and recommitment to Christian faith and service.
The celebration was graced by former Pastor, SBCK, Rev. Zuhokhu Kiba, who served as the guest speaker. According to the SBAK Centenary Jubilee media cell, Rev. Kiba, in his sermon, emphasized that reaching 100 years is not merely a celebration of longevity, but a testament to the church’s spiritual maturity and enduring legacy in faith. He described the Jubilee as a symbolic time of new beginnings, urging the congregation to embrace spiritual renewal and deeper dedication to Christ.
Drawing from the biblical account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Rev. Kiba spoke of unwavering faith in God, even in the face of adversity. He highlighted the courage it takes to stand firm in one’s beliefs, and the blessings that come from such steadfastness. He also underscored the critical role of youth in the church, reminding the congregation that Jesus chose young disciples from varied backgrounds to spread the gospel and build His ministry. Rev. Kiba exhorted the youth to lead with faith, serve in ministry, and be catalysts for both spiritual and social reformation within the Sumi community.
The evening service featured a powerful sermon by Samuel Shohe, a former youth leader, who continued the spirit of reflection and encouragement, urging the youth and congregation to remain grounded in Christ while embracing the call to service.
Earlier, the celebration service was chaired by associate pastor of youth, Akuto Achumi, while former Worship Team members led the praise and worship session. Kiheto Jhimo and Kashito Yeptho, both former youth leaders, shared greeting messages, reflecting on the church’s journey and the transformative power of youth ministry. As part of the commemoration, Y. Kikheto Sema, Chairman of the Centenary Planning Board, presented Centenary Certificates to special invitees in recognition of their contributions.
