YAA signs MoU to launch Toshi Wungtung Memorial Football Tournament

The Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dokiu Kecham and family to organize the “Toshi Wungtung Memorial Football Tournament,” commemorating the legacy of the late Toshi Wungtung and his enduring contributions to society.
The inaugural edition of the tournament will be fully sponsored by Dokiu Kecham and family, with a financial commitment of Rs. 5 lakh. This gesture reflects their dedication to promoting football excellence and fostering community engagement. For the next two editions, a shared financial arrangement will be implemented, with the sponsor contributing 60% and YAA contributing 40%.
According to YAA, the tournament aims to serve multiple objectives, including providing a platform for teams to showcase their skills, encouraging community participation, and promoting sportsmanship and fair play among players.
The first edition of the tournament will be exclusively open to YAA federating units. However, future editions will consider open participation from football clubs both within and outside the YAA federating units, promoting inclusivity and diversity in the sporting arena.
YAA expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to partner with Dokiu Kecham and family and look forward to a successful collaboration.”
