KDGBA objects to installation of smart meter

DIMAPUR, AUG 18 (NPN)

Kiphire District GB’s Association (KBGA) Monday expressed strong opposition to the power department’s proposal to install smart electricity meter in the district.
In a press release, KDGBA president Tsilise, GB, and general secretary Hopise, GB, asserted that Kiphire, being an ‘Aspirational’ district, required careful planning before “implementing such technological measures.”
The association maintained that the district urgently needed targeted developmental support rather than additional financial burden on its populace.
Kiphire District GB’s Association said the move “may not be suitable” due to the economically weaker sections who already struggle to pay their existing bills.
Therefore, the association has appealed to the department for reconsideration of the installation plan. It stressed that any future measures must prioritize the welfare and consent of the local population.
Meanwhile, Kiphire District GB’s Association has urged all government officials posted in Kiphire district to sincerely serve the district despite the lack of proper facilities and ensure that public welfare and development remained their top priority.
