Expressing serious concern over rising incidents of bullying and physical assault among students, Sangtam Students’ Union Dimapur (SSUD) has issued a stern warning to individuals from the community found engaging in such acts, which have been widely circulated on social media.
In a press release, SSUD stated that any form of bullying or harassment—mental or physical—would invite strict disciplinary action as per the Union’s rules and regulations. “Such behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” it affirmed.
The Union reiterated its commitment to safeguarding members of the community and urged students facing such challenges to seek support from school authorities, the Students’ Union, parents, or elders. It emphasized that the Union would not remain indifferent to cases of bullying or harassment directed at any individual from the community.
Appealing to parents, SSUD encouraged active guidance and awareness-building at home to instill values of respect, discipline, and empathy from an early age.
Further, the Union called upon all educational institutions to establish accessible anti-ragging and anti-bullying cells, and to organize mass awareness programmes highlighting the harmful effects and serious consequences of bullying. SSUD stated that such efforts were essential to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all students.
