Governments of Nagaland and Assam have undertaken a joint eviction drive to remove illegal immigrants from the Disputed Area Belt (DAB).
An official communiqué issued by the office of the chief secretary stated that following the eviction, plantation activities carried out in the area by Assam led to tensions in the border region.
To address the matter, the chief ministers of Nagaland and Assam held discussions and agreed that henceforth, all activities in the DAB, including plantation, would be undertaken jointly by the two states.
The state government stated that the joint decision reflected the commitment of both governments to maintaining peace and cooperation in the border areas.
