The Department of State Taxes, Nagaland, organized a one-day training programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) at Ao Temulung Kilem, Alongmen Ward, Mokokchung on August 21.
According to a DIPR report, the programme aimed to equip Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), registered dealers, and other stakeholders with practical knowledge of GST provisions, compliance procedures, and recent updates.
Assistant Commissioner of State Taxes, Yanrenthung Yanthan, delivered key insights on various aspects of GST, including Tax Deduction at Source (TDS), registration and return filing for DDOs, payment mechanisms, refund processes, and offences under GST. A practical demonstration on TDS registration and returns filing was conducted by Biju Sharma and Zeko Mero from the IT Cell.
Commercial State Taxes Officer, Roselinda Longchar, emphasized the significance of registration, timely return filing, and the role of Input Tax Credit (ITC) for registered dealers. The session also featured an interactive segment where participants clarified doubts and shared feedback on GST implementation.
The training programme witnessed active participation from DDOs, local dealers, business representatives, and other stakeholders. It concluded with a collective call to strengthen the tax system and ensure the smooth functioning of GST in the state.
The event was chaired by Commercial State Taxes Officer, Vikavi Z Assumi, while the welcome address was delivered by Deputy Commissioner of State Taxes, Mokokchung, I. Mughato Aye.
