NEISSR marks 6th National Social Work Week with flash mob on drug-free youth

DIMAPUR

The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) observed the 6th “National Social Work Week” with a series of impactful events aimed at promoting youth empowerment and social responsibility.
A standout initiative was a Flash Mob held on August 21 at Jack and Jill, Chümoukedima, centered on the theme “Drug Free Youth.”
Organized by the BSW V Semester trainees in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Red Ribbon Club, the performance drew public attention and delivered a compelling message on the importance of leading a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.
The Flash Mob served as a call to action, raising awareness about substance abuse and highlighting the role of youth in fostering a responsible society.
As part of the week-long observance, NEISSR hosted a Poster Presentation on August 19 under the theme “Bridging Care and Compassion: Social Work in Health Settings.”
The event showcased the contributions of social workers in integrating empathy and professionalism within healthcare environments.
On August 20, the NSS Unit of NEISSR conducted an essay writing competition on “Youth and Mental Health,” providing students a platform to share their perspectives on mental well-being and related challenges.
