2nd Kiphire District Football Tourney kicks off

The second edition of the Kiphire District Football Association (KDFA) tournament commenced on Friday at Public Ground Kiphire, featuring 13 teams from across the district. The tournament, organized by KDFA under the theme “Where Dreams Meet the Field,” will run until September 6.
The inaugural programme was graced by District Horticulture Officer Kiphire, Sentinungba Longchar, as the special guest. In his address, Longchar emphasized the role of sports in fostering unity among the diverse tribal communities of Kiphire. He encouraged parents to recognize and nurture the talents of their children, stating, “Life is like football: many obstacles may come, but one needs to know and adjust in life to become someone in the future.”
The formal ceremony was chaired by Rezila Sangtam, while president of KDFA, Apongse Sangtam, delivered the welcome address. Following the oath-taking ceremony, the special guest officially declared the tournament open.
