The Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), the flagship health initiative of the Government of Nagaland, has been conferred the CIPS Innovation Award 2024 in the Health Sector for its inclusive and innovative approach to universal health protection.
According to a DIPR report, the award was presented by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, during a ceremony held in Srinagar on August 22, 2025.
The award was received on behalf of the Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS), Department of Health & Family Welfare, by Dr. Kika Longkumer, Joint CEO, and Dr. Yingnei Kongyak, Deputy CEO.
Conceived as a state-specific solution to ensure affordable, accessible, and equitable healthcare with financial risk protection, CMHIS integrates technological innovation, social inclusion, and financial sustainability. Through digital enrolment, cashless services, and real-time claim processing, the scheme has set a benchmark in public health governance and aligns with India’s vision of Universal Health Coverage.
NHPS extended its gratitude to all stakeholders and the people of Nagaland for their continued support in making the scheme a success.
