The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Kohima district was held on August 25 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Kohima, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and member secretary, B. Henok Buchem, and in the presence of Lok Sabha, MP and chairperson, DISHA Kohima, S. Supongmeren Jamir.
According to DIPR report, Supongmeren in his speech emphasized that the meeting serves not only to review ongoing schemes but also to strengthen inter-departmental coordination for effective service delivery.
He urged officials and nominated members to work collectively to ensure proper implementation of schemes for the benefit of grassroots communities. Acknowledging the challenges faced in Kohima district, he assured that genuine concerns raised during the meeting would be taken up with the concerned ministries. He also encouraged elected representatives and members to actively monitor progress and address gaps.
Deputy commissioner Henok Buchem welcomed the members and called for meaningful collaboration to ensure tangible outcomes from developmental programmes.
Presentations were made by various departments: Social Welfare Department reported that under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), 6,416 senior citizens (aged 60–79), 718 citizens (80+), 497 widows, and 165 persons with disabilities received pensions in 2023–24.
The National Family Benefit Scheme supported 30 bereaved families, while 830 Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards were issued till May 2025.
District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) under Mission Vatsalya handled 161 cases via Childline (1098) in 2024–25, including missing children, abuse, neglect, trafficking, and child labour.
The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) addressed 94 cases, and the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) registered two cases involving children in conflict with the law.
ICDS Projects operate 348 Anganwadi Centres across Kohima district, serving over 12,291 beneficiaries. Aadhaar verification of beneficiaries stood at 93%, and mobile verification at 72%.
District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) reported 409 children enrolled under PALNA across 28 centres. Under PMMVY, 1,938 women benefitted with Rs.67.89 lakh disbursed. Sakhi-One Stop Centre has assisted 175 women since 2016, while Shakti Sadan continues to provide rehabilitation support.
Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) informed that 88% of villages have been declared ODF Plus under SBM-G 2.0. Plastic Waste Management Units have been installed in three blocks. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, 91% of households have functional tap water connections, with full coverage targeted by December 2025.
- Rural Development Department reported that under MGNREGA, 1.66 lakh person-days were generated in FY 2025–26, achieving 13.5% of the approved labour budget. Aadhaar seeding of job cards stood at 90.14%. NSRLM promoted 240 entrepreneurs in Botsa and Chiephobozou blocks. Under PMAY-G (2023–24), 455 houses were completed out of a target of 689, with 234 under construction.
The meeting concluded with the announcement that the next session will feature presentations from the Urban Development, Agriculture, and Veterinary Departments.
