UGN/NNC (PB) appoints Akaho as new president

DIMAPUR

United Government of Nagaland–Naga National Council (Parent Body) [UGN/NNC (PB)] has appointed Akaho Swu as its new president following the completion of the one-year tenure of interim president Kiutsangkiung (July 13, 2024 – August 20, 2025).
According to a statement issued by the MIP, the appointment was unanimously endorsed by the central cabinet led by Ato Kilonser Nupavi Achumi, along with kilonsers, tatars, regional authorities, and the military wing headed by ‘C-in-C Lt. Gen. Kirenkiu’, following an oath of allegiance.
UGN/NNC (PB) has called upon all citizens, officials, and stakeholders to extend continued support and cooperation during this period of transition, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and progress of the nation.
The government also issued a stern warning against individuals or groups attempting to create divisions within the organization through illegitimate means. It further cautioned that any person found collecting tax or donations under its banner without proper authorization will face strict action as per its governing principles.
