ENSF calls for revocationof rationalization order

DIMAPUR

The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has expressed strong resentment over the recent rationalization order issued by the Department of School Education (DoSE), citing its adverse impact on schools in Eastern Nagaland.
In a representation addressed to the principal director of DoSE, ENSF president Nuheymong Yimkhiung and education secretary Wangnei Konyak referred to the department’s order dated August 22, 2023 (Ref. No. ED/PLN/RATIONALIZATION/2023), stating that despite an acute shortage of teachers, the directive has resulted in large-scale transfers without replacements.
The Federation said this has further strained institutions already grappling with inadequate staffing and poor infrastructure.
“The rationalization policy, while perhaps applicable elsewhere, is detrimental to the educational interests of Eastern Nagaland,” ENSF stated, adding that many schools in the region remain under-resourced and lack sufficient teaching personnel.
ENSF urged the department to revoke the order with immediate effect and instead focus on deploying additional teachers and improving infrastructure in the region. It maintained that such measures are vital to ensuring equitable access to quality education for students in Eastern Nagaland.
The Federation further asserted that it would not allow even a single teacher to be relieved without proper replacement and affirmed its commitment to safeguarding the academic future of students. ENSF also appealed to the department to intervene at the earliest and initiate appropriate steps to address the issue.
