An upgraded Multi-Skill and Electronics Laboratory was inaugurated at Thinuovicha Memorial Government Higher Secondary School (TMGHSS), Kohima, on Tuesday. The facility was developed by Lend A Hand India in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, and funded through the CSR initiative of LIC Housing Finance Ltd.
The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, with the objective of strengthening vocational education and skill development in the state.
Principal of Kohima College, Dr. Vitsosie Vüprü, graced the occasion as chief guest. He was joined by Dr. Chumbeni Kikon Neikha, principal of TMGHSS and joint mission director of Samagra Shiksha, along with senior officials, coordinators, and faculty members.
In his keynote address, Dr. Vüprü underscored the importance of vocational education in equipping students with practical skills and self-confidence, mentioning that the upgraded lab would empower learners to pursue future careers with competence and independence. Instructors from Lend A Hand India, Metsuryi Tetseo and Rongsentoshi Ozukum, conducted a guided tour of the lab and briefed guests on the equipment and curriculum. Students demonstrated two live practicals—fabrication of an extension board and parallel wiring connection—which were well received by attendees.
The programme was chaired by Richard Asoso, Assistant Manager, Lend A Hand India, who acknowledged the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders in promoting skill-based education in Nagaland.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude and a reaffirmation of commitment to integrating vocational learning into mainstream education under the theme “Building a Skilled Tomorrow.”
