DIPR holds training on news, photo reporting in Kohima

DIMAPUR

Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) conducted a two-day sensitization training on “News & Photo Reporting & PA System Coverage” at the DIPR Conference Hall, Kohima, commenced on August 27.
According to DIPR report, advisor to the Chief Minister and chairman of IDAN, Abu Metha, graced the inaugural programme and underscored the vital role of the IPR department as a bridge between the State Government and the public.
He emphasized the importance of accuracy in information dissemination and urged officials to prioritize factual reporting over speed. Metha also called on the department to build a positive image of the State while keeping citizens informed about government schemes and initiatives.
Encouraging officers and staff to embrace challenges in remote postings as valuable experiences, Metha advised participants to pursue self-education and leverage digital platforms to enhance their skills. He further encouraged the department to increase its visibility through social media, feature writing, video content, and documentation of success stories.
Joint secretary, IPR, Kusa Fithu, expressed appreciation to director Dzüvinuo Theünuo and department officials for organizing the workshop. She noted that such training programmes are essential for skill enhancement, productivity, and fostering camaraderie among staff. Acknowledging the technical and sensitive nature of the department’s work, she urged participants to make full use of the opportunity for professional growth.
The inaugural session was chaired by joint director, IPR, I. Simon Teilia. Rtd. director, Limawati Ao, delivered a general appraisal on news reporting. Other speakers included joint director Asangla Imsong, deputy directors S. Hongpi Konyak and Ruopfulenuo Houzha, and APRO Wepre Kronu. The training aimed to strengthen the professional capabilities of DIPR personnel in reporting, photography, and technical coverage, ensuring the department continues to serve as a reliable communication channel between the government and the people.
