Inter School Athletics Meet 2025 held in Kohima

In celebration of “National Sports Day”, the Department of Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS), Nagaland, organized the Inter School Athletics Meet 2025 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on August 27. The event brought together young athletes from various schools across the state, showcasing their talent and competitive spirit in a series of track and field events.
Addressing the gathering, DYRS Director Kethosituo Sekhose emphasized the importance of sports as a viable career path and encouraged students to pursue athletics with dedication. He highlighted the legacy of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, whose birth anniversary on August 29 is commemorated as National Sports Day across India.
Sekhose announced that winners of the athletics meet will be felicitated on August 29 at 10 AM at the same venue. All winners have been requested to attend the ceremony accompanied by their respective teacher in-charge. Sekhose, informed that medal winners selected for the award have been requested to contact their respective State Sports Associations to verify their eligibility. The list of eligible athletes can also be checked on the department’s official social media handles—Instagram: youth_resources_and_sports and Facebook: Directorate of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland.
Registration for the award programme will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on the same day, the release added.
The meet was coordinated by additional director of DYRS, Megolhu Dolie, who was the tournament in-charge, while Tokavi Zhimomi hosted the event as compere.
Results
Track Events: 100m (Class 7–8 Boys): Vikash Khwash (Mt Carmel) secured first place, followed by Ruokuozo (G Rio) and Aneizo Meru (Don Bosco).
100m (Class 7–8 Girls): Dzevinuo (Northfield) clinched gold, with Viphreno (Northfield) and Rokovine (Christ King) taking second and third.
100m (Class 9–10 Girls): Pelevinuo (Northfield) led the race, followed by Keneingunuo (Christ King) and Dzevinuo Chusi (Mezhür).
100m (Class 9–10 Boys): Diezevi Merü (Don Bosco) won gold, ahead of Mengukhriezo Theudore (Don Bosco) and Dziesetuo Solo (Vineyard).
200m (Class 7–8 Girls): Dzevinuo (Northfield) repeated her success, followed by Viphreno (Northfield) and Rokovine (Christ King).
200m (Class 7–8 Boys): Inohito (Christ King) took first, with Alohito (Christ King) and Shinglang (Mt Hermon) trailing.
200m (Class 9–10 Girls): Zevokhrienuo (Mezhür) emerged victorious, followed by Keneingunuo (Christ King) and Pelevinuo (Northfield).
200m (Class 9–10 Boys): Neikezelhou Robert Dzüvichu (Don Bosco) won gold, ahead of Diezevi Merü (Don Bosco) and Throngkiu Khiphuru (Mezhür).
400m (Class 7–8 Girls): Viboli Achumi (Mezhür) led the race, followed by Thungreni Ezung (Mezhür) and Mumu (Christ King).
400m (Class 7–8 Boys): Kevizezo (Christ King) claimed first, with Vimezo Rupreo (Mezhür) and Arenpong Jamir (Vineyard) placing next.
400m (Class 9–10 Girls): Ruopfuvinuo (Christ King) won gold, followed by Megungunuo (Northfield) and Utulu Nakro (Vineyard).
400m (Class 9–10 Boys): Apoujam Newmai (Don Bosco) took top honors, ahead of Chatha (Christ King) and Neikezelhou Robert Dzüvichu (Don Bosco).
Relay (4x100m)
Class 7–8 Girls: Northfield secured first place, followed by G Rio and Mezhür.
Class 7–8 Boys: Don Bosco led the relay, with Christ King and Mt Hermon trailing.
Class 9–10 Girls: Christ King won gold, followed by Mezhür and G Rio.
Class 9–10 Boys: Don Bosco emerged victorious, ahead of Christ King and G Rio.
Long Jump
Class 7–8 Girls: Mezhür Hr Sec School took first and third, with Northfield in second.
Class 7–8 Boys: Don Bosco won gold, followed by Mt Carmel and Christ King.
Class 9–10 Girls: Christ King led the event, with Don Bosco and Mezhür Hr Sec School placing next.
Class 9–10 Boys: Don Bosco secured first, followed by Vineyard and Christ King.
