NSRDA lauds NIMSR’s progress, urges swift completion of infra

Nagaland Senior Retired Doctors Association (NSRDA) paid a commendatory visit to the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) on Saturday, led by Association president Dr. Neiphi Kire and general secretary Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi, accompanied by several retired Principal Directors and Directors of the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
The delegation was received by the Director-cum-Dean of NIMSR, who personally guided the team across the campus. The visiting members expressed deep appreciation for the rapid development and academic progress of the institute, which currently boasts an enrolment of 300 MBBS students.
Dr. Kire emphasized the urgent need to complete essential infrastructure including playgrounds, additional hostels, student transportation, and a guest house. He also called for the early commencement of clinical services to establish NIMSR as a tertiary healthcare centre for Nagaland.
Dr. Kinimi praised the Director-cum-Dean’s visionary leadership and unwavering dedication, describing her as a source of inspiration to faculty, staff, and students alike. He further urged the government to expedite the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project to enable the institute’s transformation into a multi-disciplinary tertiary care centre.
The team was notably impressed by the state-of-the-art Skill Lab, 3D Dissection Lab, and the condition of cadavers preserved in formalin tanks—donated altruistically from outside the state. They also commended the hostel facilities, indoor sports complex, departmental laboratories, smart classrooms, conference hall, and the Central Library.
During interactions with students and faculty, the team noted the institute’s robust digital connectivity, including CCTV and Wi-Fi-enabled smart boards, linking NIMSR to national and international academic networks. Waste disposal mechanisms were reviewed and deemed satisfactory, with assurances of future upgrades aligned with institutional growth.
The delegation stressed the importance of fast-tracking the construction of the proposed 500-bedded hospital to serve underprivileged patients. In a gesture of goodwill, the team offered blessings to the staff and recorded their reflections in the Visitors’ Book, concluding the visit with a group photograph and heartfelt wishes for NIMSR’s continued success under divine guidance.
