Phek District Co-operative Societies Union (PDCU) held its general session on August 30, at the CBCC Pioneer’s Complex, Pfutsero, under the theme “Sustainable Development.” The event was hosted by the Chakhesang Women Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Ltd.
Delivering the presidential address, PDCU President, Kekhwengulo Lea emphasized the importance of co-operative societies as joint ventures rooted in collective effort, urging societies to work hand in hand to foster economic resilience, shared growth, and sustainability.
Addressing the gathering, ARCS i/c SRCS Pfutsero, Marlong highlighted the need for unity over individualism, encouraging societies to recognize and leverage each other’s strengths. He also spoke on the PACS computerization initiative and shared details regarding loan facilities available to co-operative societies.
In his address, Nagaland State Co-operative Union (NSCU), president, Kedoutsolhi Wetsah, urged co-operatives to set an example through good practices, transparency, and accountability, calling for collective efforts to strengthen the co-operative movement in the state.
A major highlight of the session was the declaration of new office bearers of the Union. The new team will be led by Vekhoneyi Venuh as the president, Mutsicho Sazo as the vice president, Mesetsozu Wezah as general secretary and Chuvi Lea as finance secretary.
Legal Advisors for the new term were announced as advocate Wekhrope Marhu and advocate Vekhotso Swuro, while the advisory board includes Kekhwengulo Lea, Khosapa Venuh, and Kedoutsolhi Wetsah. A special prayer for the newly elected team was led by Vechulou Kanuo.
The session was chaired by Vekhoneyi Venuh, with the invocation offered by Mutsicho Sazo. The gathering was formally welcomed by secretary of the Chakhesang Women MPCS Ltd., Wekotso-ü Kapfo. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Rieletho Nguri and a closing prayer by chairman of Tiisiipu MPCS Ltd.Kekhwehlilo Tara.
