DDBA hosts one-day 3×3 basketball tournament

DIMAPUR, AUG 31 (NPN)

The Dimapur District Basketball Association (DDBA) organized a one-day 3×3 Basketball Tournament, at the JV Basketball Court at Signal Angami bringing together 29 teams—24 men’s and 5 women’s.
The tournament followed a league-cum-knockout format, allowing players to showcase their skills in both strategic matchups and high-stakes elimination rounds.
In a gripping men’s finale, Highlanders edged past Orca with a scoreline of 18–15. Orca’s James delivered a herculean performance, scoring 9 points and keeping his team in contention with relentless drives and sharp finishes. Kevin added 4 points to the tally.
But it was Highlanders’ collective brilliance that sealed the win—Chumben (4), Atsiezo (6), and Sede (5) orchestrated a balanced attack, with fluid passing and clutch shooting. Their teamwork proved decisive, earning them the championship and the admiration of the crowd.
Men’s MVP: Chumben Kikon of Highlanders
The women’s final saw ABC (B) outlast ABC (A) in a thrilling 9–4 contest. Asang and Theja fought valiantly for ABC (A), but it was ABC (B)’s Sungjemenla who stole the show, scoring 6 points and leading her team with poise and precision. Imtila and Nisino added crucial baskets to secure the win.
Women’s MVP: Neiseno of ABC (B)
DDBA extends heartfelt appreciation to B-Level referees Salew Kadete and Seyievizo Kire, along with dedicated local officials, for their excellent officiating and commitment to fair play throughout the tournament.
