Tuensang wards serve 30-day ultimatum on BRO over road neglect

DIMAPUR, SEP 1 (NPN)

Five wards in Tuensang town have served a 30-day ultimatum on the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), demanding immediate repair and drainage works on the Tuensang-Tobu road, while warning of an indefinite bandh if their demand was not addressed.
In a memorandum to the officer commanding of 100 RCC BRO through the deputy commissioner, the ward chairmen alleged that the BRO had neglected the road stretch from Zero Point (High School B Ward) to Laiket Lembou Colony (St. John A Ward) since 2018. The poor condition of the road, they said, had left commuters and vehicles vulnerable.
The wards reminded that the All Ward Union Tuensang Town had earlier submitted representations for the same road through the DC, but BRO remained deaf to the hue and cry of the public.
The ultimatum, signed by chairmen of Polounyu, St. John A, High School B, St. John B and Hakushang wards, stated that BRO must act within 30 days from the date of submission to repair the deteriorated roads and drainages.
The signatories warned that if the road was not repaired within the stipulated period, the five wards will impose an indefinite total bandh within Tuensang town area, and that they shall not be held responsible for untoward incidents.
