GHSS Kigwema adopts ‘Litter-Free Campus’ initiative

Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kigwema, under Kohima district, formally adopted a “Litter-Free Campus” initiative on September 2 in the presence of Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Kelhikha Kenye.
Addressing the students and faculty, Kenye reminded the gathering that GHSS Kigwema is among the 17 Lighthouse School Complexes in Nagaland and urged the institution to take bold and innovative steps to transform the quality of education.
Stressing the adage “Cleanliness is next to godliness,” Kenye said that while the phrase refers to purity of soul, maintaining high standards of sanitation and hygiene is equally essential. He encouraged students to be responsible stewards of the environment and to protect their surroundings with sincerity.
Expressing concern over the widespread dumping of waste in public spaces, Kenye called upon students to become ambassadors of change, stating that meaningful transformation often begins with a few committed individuals. “If we don’t litter, no one will need to clean,” he added.
School Principal, Rose Chishi, administered a pledge to students and staff, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a litter-free campus.
Altogether, 198 students and teachers participated in the programme.
