Konyak bodies thank govt for NH-702 finalisation

DIMAPUR

Konyak Union Aboi Unit, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong, Aboi Area Students’ Union, and Aboi Town Students’ Union have extended appreciation to the Government of Nagaland for finalising the alignment of National Highway 702 during a high-level meeting held on August 28, 2025, chaired by deputy chief minister and minister in-charge of National Highways, T.R. Zeliang.
Terming the decision as a landmark moment, the organisations stated that the finalisation of Option 3 route—described as the shortest, safest, and most credible alignment—fulfils a long-standing aspiration of the Konyak community by connecting them directly with the rest of the Nagas, bypassing Assam territory.
The bodies also acknowledged the wisdom and farsightedness of the Konyak Apex Body for prioritising community welfare and placed on record their appreciation to all stakeholders who endorsed the alignment. They said the collective decision reflects a strong commitment to unity, connectivity, and regional development.
While expressing optimism, the organisations appealed to the State government to expedite execution of the project, stating that early implementation would not only fulfil the long-cherished dream of the Konyak people but also strengthen bonds of brotherhood among Nagas.
