As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the District Administration, Atoizu, organised an awareness programme and speech competition on September 1 at Jubilee Hall, Atoizu.
Delivering the welcome and keynote address, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak P shared his personal journey and emphasised the importance of childhood as a formative phase. He stated that proper guidance and upbringing can protect students from the dangers of drug and substance abuse. Encouraging the youth, he urged them to channel their competitive spirit towards academic excellence and future aspirations. A special song presentation was given by Mughashe and Visili from St. Peter’s School, Atoizu.
Students from Atoizu Town Schools A and B participated in the speech competition. Kameto Chishi of Adelfos School, Asukhuto Town (Atoizu Town B) secured first place, followed by Hinokali of St. Peter’s School, Atoizu Town A in second, and Hulika Chophi of Adelfos School, Asukhuto Town (Atoizu Town B) in third. Fourth, fifth and sixth positions were awarded to Abel (Adelfos School), Vilivi Yeptho (GMS Asukhuto Town), and Akika (St. Peter’s School), respectively.
The programme was compered by Niloni Shohe, president of the Students’ Union, Atoizu Town. Invocation was pronounced by Helibo, Catechist of St. Peter’s Church, Atoizu Town. Concluding remarks were delivered by Hukashi Yeptho, Assistant Headmaster, Government High School, Atoizu, followed by a benediction from Dr. Niholi Sema, APW, SBAK, Nito Mount.
