The 9th edition of the Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) Inter-Colony Father’s Football Tournament was officially inaugurated on September 1 at IG Stadium, Kohima. The opening ceremony was graced by Commissioner & Secretary and president of the Lotha Officers’ Association, Orenthung Lotha, who declared the tournament open.
Addressing the gathering as the special guest, Lotha reflected on the community’s journey of growth and resilience. He emphasized the importance of adapting to global advancements and aligning with the national vision of Viksit Bharat. He encouraged individuals to contribute meaningfully towards building a developed society. Lotha also extended jubilee blessings to KLH as it marks its 50th year of existence.
KLH chairman, K. N. Mhonthung Lotha, in his welcome address, highlighted the origins of the tournament as a platform for fellowship and unity through sports. He announced that 14 colony teams are participating in this year’s edition and urged players to uphold the spirit of friendship and understanding throughout the competition.
The tournament began with an exhibition match between Kohima Lotha Hoho and Dimapur/Chumukedima Lotha Hoho (combined).
In the opening competitive fixtures, defending champions Goldfinch Club, New Reserve edged past Rhujung United, GHS with a 2–1 victory, while Kohima Lotha Officers’ Football Team secured a 2–1 win over Bayavu FC.
Organized by Kohima Lotha Hoho, the tournament will feature a series of matches culminating on September 9, promising engaging football action and fostering community bonding.
