Keoshu calls cultural preservation at Mungmung Fest

The vibrant spirit of the Mungmung festival was celebrated with grandeur at the Public Ground, Longkhim, Tuensang dsitrict, where Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports and Chairman of DPDB Shamator, S. Keoshu, attended as the special guest.
According to a DIPR report, addressing the gathering, Keoshu emphasized the importance of celebrating the festival with sincerity and unity, acknowledging the yearlong efforts of the community. He urged attendees to foster cordial relationships with neighbors and uphold the legacy of unity exemplified by Naga forefathers. “There was no division among the Nagas in earlier days, they lived as one family,” he remarked, calling on the present generation to carry forward that spirit.
Highlighting the progress of the Sangtam community among Eastern Nagas, Keoshu encouraged them to lead by example and continue promoting unity and development. He also stressed the need to preserve traditional practices and cultural heritage for future generations.
At the event, solidarity speeches were delivered by Ao Senden president Marsenen and KTC president Ngon, along with a special musical performance by OTC, Yangli. Cultural presentations included folk dances by male troupes from Phir Ahi, Chimonger, Chungtor, Tronger, and Tsungti Mulung Sinrep villages, and female troupes from Kiding, Angangba, Tsaru and Holongba villages.
Womenfolk showcased traditional field-clearing and millet harvesting techniques, followed by indigenous games such as bamboo clamping, Khuling dhe mulitanung, and the Stilt Bamboo Race. The program began with a welcome address by Planning Committee convenor Thsapongchem and an invocation by pastor Toshi Longkumer of ABC, Longkhim.
