CHURACHANDPUR DECLARED ‘NO DRONE ZONE’

‘No drone zone’ was declared in Manipur’s Churachandpur district as hectic preparations are in full swing amid speculations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the restive state next week.
Like other orders issued by the authorities of the state government related to the proposed VVIP visit, the Churachandpur district magistrate also did not mention the name of the VVIP proposed to visit.
However, an office memorandum issued by state general administration (GAD) restricting its officers and staff from taking leave, mentioned the name of the VVIP in its orders.
The GAD’s office memorandum issued on September stated, “In view of the likely of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to the state of Manipur and as directed by the chief secretary, Manipur, in a meeting held on 30/08/2025, it is informed to all officers and staff that no application for leave, training etc. will be entertained from 01/09/2025 to 15/09/2025.”
According to highly reliable sources, the Prime Minister is likely to reach Manipur on September 13 after visiting Mizoram, where he is scheduled to inaugurate a railway project.
However, there has been no official confirmation of Modi’s Imphal visit so far, the sources said.
On the other hand, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata has dashed to New Delhi on Thursday.
Sources close to the Speaker said that he left Imphal by a commercial flight after he was invited by party (BJP) Central leader to discuss matters related to the proposed visit of the Prime Minister to Manipur.
Thokchom is likely to discuss issues related with the expected visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the second week of September as well as on bringing peace and normalcy in the state, the sources disclosed.
