Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sazolie College, organised an awareness programme on Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) on September 6 at Viniezono Hall, Sazolie College.
The programme, held under the theme “Awareness Generation on Mission LiFE Activities,” aimed to sensitise students on key environmental issues including air quality, waste management, and sustainable living practices.
Junior Scientific Assistant Rongsenben Longkumer introduced the objectives and initiatives of NPCB, highlighting the impact of ambient air quality on human health and the environment. She presented data on air quality levels across Kohima and stressed the need for collective action.
Scientist ‘B’ Yanathung Kithan spoke on solid waste management, sharing national and state-level data and emphasising the role of individuals in ensuring proper disposal practices. He also expressed NPCB’s interest in future collaborations with the college for action-oriented environmental activities.
Junior Scientific Assistant Hanpong Konyak elaborated on Mission LiFE, its three-fold vision, and the importance of conserving energy, saving water, and reducing single-use plastic. He encouraged students to adopt responsible habits and spread awareness within their communities.
The programme was chaired by Assistant Professor Sungjemmenla Longkumer, Department of English, and began with an invocation by Nzanthung Kikon, Chaplain of Sazolie College. IQAC Coordinator Jonna Mozhui delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, college authorities, and participants for their support and engagement.
