Nagaland RMSA Teachers’ Association – 2016 has announced an indefinite sit-in protest beginning September 8, 2025, at the Directorate of School Education, Kohima, in response to the state government’s continued inaction over long-pending service-related grievances.
In a press release, the association stated that despite exhausting all democratic and peaceful avenues, the 367 RMSA-2016 teachers have been compelled to resort to a full-scale peaceful demonstration to demand justice and accountability.
The protest will be conducted in adherence to the principles of non-violence and lawful assembly, as per directives issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
The demand include: Recognition of salary and service benefits from their original date of appointment in 2016; implementation of the ROP 2017 pay scale, including annual increments, at par with SSA–RMSA 2010–13 teachers and enforcement of Office Memorandum No. AR-3/GEN-231/2011 dated March 29, 2017.
The association described the government’s failure to implement these demands as a violation of legal mandates and an affront to justice and human dignity.
It further called upon civil society organisations, student unions, workers’ associations, and the general public to stand in solidarity and uphold the constitutional right to peaceful protest.
