The Changchor Yangdong Akehda Kiphire Jila (Changchore Village Union, Kiphire Town) celebrated its 50th anniversary at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall here on September 6, commemorating five decades of its existence with a solemn and spirited gathering.
Special guest Longdiba L Sangtam, ADC Kiphire (HQ), and guest speaker Dr Apise, secretary USBLA sub-centre Kiphire, graced the occasion, which was attended by dignitaries, delegates from Amahator area, and well-wishers.
Earlier in the day, a dedicatory prayer was held at the Late Tsisekyu Memorial Building site, where Dr Apise unveiled a monolith in honour of the pioneers.
Addressing the gathering, ADC Longdiba congratulated CYAKJ on reaching the milestone and urged the younger generation to honour the vision and sacrifices of the founding members. He emphasized that the union’s core purpose is to foster unity, which he described as the bedrock of peace and prosperity. Calling for forgiveness and reconciliation, he encouraged the union to build a brighter future rooted in shared values.
A jubilee souvenir book was also released to mark the occasion.
Tsasepi (Ex-candidate, 59 AC) presented a brief history of the union’s formation, followed by a moment of silence in remembrance of the pioneers.
