All Nagaland Pre-Service Teachers’ Association (ANPSTA) has expressed concern over alleged irregularities and lack of transparency in the appointment of primary teachers under the department of school education.
Addressing a press conference at Japfü Hotel, here on Tuesday, ANPSTA president Hitova I Murrumi said that the association submitted representation to the DoSE last month for requisition of primary teacher posts lying vacant to the NSSB. However, he said there was no outcome till date.
Murrumi said that in the last 10 years there was not even a single advertisement for PT. However, he expressed surprise that as per the RTI reply, there had been a bogus random appointment. “What shocked even more is that even a Matriculation without qualifications have been appointed to the post of PT and some people had been appointed in two different places as per the RTI reply,” ANPSTA president claimed.
ANPSTA general secretary Chalievi Dahou said the association had filed two RTI applications—one sought information on total number of teachers appointed from 2018 till date and the second sought information on total number of teachers that have been appointed from 2016 till date.
However, Dahou said that RTI response was full of discrepancies.
She said that according to RTI response, a total number of 401 primary teachers have been recruited from 2016 till date. However, she said that on scrutiny, the association found that many names were repeated or missing, bringing the total down to 397 confirmed appointments. Dahou said RTI application had also sought proof of advertisement in the public domain, but only two posts appeared to have publicly advertised—one under Mon district on September 25, 2020 and another one in Wokha District on July 7, 2021.
In this regard, ANPSTA alleged that 395 posts were apparently filled through backdoor appointments. Among 397, the association said 65 appointed teachers lacked any teacher qualifications.
ANPSTA has questioned the department over the discrepancies in the RTI response. The association alleged there had been appointment of teachers through backdoor despite many qualified candidates waiting for open recruitment since 2016.
ANPSTA, which has also submitted a memorandum to the principal director school education, cautioned that they would wait for three weeks and resort to a democratic course of action if the department did not respond positively.
It may be mentioned that on August 22, 2025, the association had submitted a representation to the principal director school education demanding immediate release 1168 Primary Teacher post vacancies for recruitment within two weeks through NSSB.
