As part of the 16-day Sewa Pakhwada 2025 commemorating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagaland will be organising a statewide “Modi Yuva Marathon” on September 20 under the theme “War Against Drugs.”
Announcing this at a press conference on Tuesday at the BJP Dimapur District office, BJYM state president Khekato Awomi, BJYM general secretaries Rajat and Likao Odyuo, along with BJP Nagaland state general secretary, informed that the marathon is expected to witness participation from over 3,000 individuals.
The marathon will commence from Thahekhu village ground, pass through Dhobinala and City Tower, and culminate at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur. Organisers said the event aims to promote fitness, encourage youth engagement, and raise awareness on drug abuse, which continues to pose a serious challenge in the state.
BJYM also announced that young athletes and sportspersons from Nagaland will be roped in as campaign ambassadors to inspire wider participation. There will be no age restriction, and online registration will be launched shortly. All participants will receive certificates, while winners will be awarded prizes.
Speaking at the briefing, Likao Odyuo said the initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to youth welfare and empowerment, citing schemes such as the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction and the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme.
BJYM has appealed to students, athletes, and youth across Nagaland to join the marathon in large numbers and contribute towards building a healthier, drug-free society.
