Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has extended congratulations to the newly elected team of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) led by G.K. Rengma, describing the leadership transition as both a challenge and an opportunity to serve Dimapur and its residents.
In a statement, NTC president, C. Pankathung Lotha and general secretary, C. Onen Walling acknowledged Dimapur’s growing importance as a commercial hub and gateway to Nagaland, and expressed hope that the new team would initiate measures to address key urban needs including road connectivity, electricity, water supply, healthcare, education, and transport infrastructure. It stated that the NCD, as guardian of the city, must work towards peace, unity and institutional stability.
NTC also conveyed its appreciation to the outgoing NCD team led by Etsungmomo Kikon for their efforts in tackling complex issues such as illegal taxation, extortion, influx of illegal immigrants, and crimes against women.
NTC further commended the outgoing team’s persistent engagement with the state government and Northeast Railway authorities on the long-pending Dimapur Railway modernization project.
Meanwhile, NTC expressed appreciation to Nagaland Police team in Kohima for their swift action in apprehending individuals allegedly involved in operating sex rackets in and around the state capital. It condemned the exploitation of vulnerable women and girls, and called for exemplary punishment under the law, along with strong social sanctions. NTC urged authorities and communities—including church organisations—to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding human dignity across all towns in the state.
