STF reviews preparedness on vector-borne, communicable diseases

The State Task Force (STF) on Vector Borne and other communicable diseases convened a review meeting on Wednesday at the Conference Hall of the Health & Family Welfare Department, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima. The meeting was chaired by Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Anoop Khinchi.
According to a press release issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare (DH&FW), the meeting was attended by senior officials from the department along with representatives from various line departments including Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, PHED, Rural Development, School Education, Agriculture, Social Welfare, PHQ/SP office, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, and partner organizations.
State Programme Officer, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Dr. Imkongtemsu Longchar, presented the epidemiological trends and preparedness measures undertaken by the department.
The meeting reviewed the current status of Malaria, Dengue, Japanese Encephalitis (JE), and other communicable diseases in the state. Officials deliberated on strengthening surveillance systems, intensifying vector control activities, and launching awareness campaigns across districts.
The chairperson emphasized the need for robust inter-departmental coordination involving Urban Development, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Rural Development, School Education, Agriculture, Veterinary, and Public Health Engineering departments to ensure effective prevention and control of vector-borne diseases.
