The office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, on Thursday convened a meeting with representatives of 31 Sardar Villages in connection with the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
Briefing media after the meeting, SDO (Civil) Dimapur, Wiridin Zeliang, said the meeting was held as per the directive of the state government. He added that the meeting briefed the Village Councils on the state government’s advisory, which states, “The District Administration, through the office of Commissioner of Nagaland, to ensure that 33% of ILP fees levied on each category of ILP to be remitted to the concerned Village Council as per the Register of ILP holder staying in the village which are maintained by the respective Village Council”.
He further added that that Village Councils were apprised of the procedure on registering ILP holders residing in their respective villages and the criteria for such registration, while also cautioning them that neither Village Councils nor public were authorized to carry out ILP checking.
He added that according to the directive, VCs would be required to maintain a register of ILP holders in their respective villages, containing details such as name, contact number, ILP number, category, permanent address, validity, guarantor’s name, and remarks. The details are to be submitted to the DC office on a monthly basis, after which 33% of the ILP fees would be remitted to the respective councils for their assignment, he stated. It was later informed that representatives from almost sardar villages under Dimapur attended the meeting.
