District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Mokokchung held its monthly meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall on September 12, where the Department of Health and Family Welfare presented a PowerPoint on the Nikshay Mitras initiative under the TB Elimination Programme.
According to DIPR report, DTO Mokokchung, Dr. Toshila Jamir, informed that 174 TB patients in the district are in need of support through the Nikshay Mitra scheme, which allows individuals, NGOs, cooperative societies, and political parties to adopt TB patients for a minimum of six months.
DPDB chairman, Nuklutoshi Longkumer MLA, encouraged members to come forward and announced his decision to adopt five TB patients. Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, also pledged to adopt five patients. The board resolved to review departmental participation in the next meeting.
On border issues, Addl. SP Mokokchung, Y. Tumchobemo Yanthan, briefed the board on the status quo being maintained along the Assam-Nagaland border and assured that the situation remains under control.
DC Verma urged Heads of Offices to regularly visit subordinate offices in blocks and subdivisions to improve coordination and understand local challenges. He added that annual reports on such visits would be required in future.
The board also discussed financial and logistical support for hosting the 25th edition of the Dr. T. Ao Inter-District Championship 2026, with the Chairman assuring necessary steps would be taken after due study.
