NSF serves 10-day ultimatum to govt over RMSA-2016 issue

KOHIMA, SEP 17 (NPN)

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has written to the chief secretary, serving a 10-day ultimatum on the state government to address the grievances of 367 RMSA-2016 batch of teachers.
In a letter issued after its emergency presidential council meeting held on September 17, NSF president Mteisuding and general secretary Kenilo Kent said the house had undertaken an exhaustive deliberation on the plight of the teachers.
NSF said the house unanimously acknowledged their invaluable service and placed on record its deep appreciation for their steadfast dedication, which had significantly contributed to the growth of school education and nurturing of countless Naga students.
After thorough deliberation, NSF resolved to serve this ultimatum, giving the state government ten days from the date of the communiqué to take all necessary and appropriate measures to ensure that due justice is delivered to the 367 RMSA-2016 batch teachers.
It maintained that continued neglect of their grievances amounted not only to a violation of their dignity as teaching professionals but also to an affront to the collective aspirations of the Naga people for quality education.
NSF strongly cautioned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would compel the Federation, with the united endorsement and active support of its constituent organs, to publicly denounce the inaction of the State Government in the strongest terms. It further warned that it would be compelled to initiate every democratic measure and course of agitation deemed necessary to safeguard the rights of the teachers and to secure the justice owed to them.
In the interim, NSF appealed to the chief secretary and all concerned authorities to refrain from issuing any notifications or administrative orders that may further aggravate the situation or compromise the dignity and rights of the teachers in question.
NSF expressed hope that the Government would act with urgency, fairness, and sensitivity to avert any escalation and to restore faith in its commitment towards the teaching community.
