De Operettas Music Institute, Kohima, hosted its sixth annual recital on September 14 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, under the theme “The Art of Music Creation.”
The recital featured 14 original compositions and three arrangements, created and performed by the institute’s teachers and students.
Special guest Vesato Theluo, Managing Director of Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts, highlighted the importance of discipline and practice in achieving musical excellence. He said while Nagas possess raw musical talent, it is only through training, refinement, and countless hours of dedication that potential is fully realized.
“There are no shortcuts in music. Behind every effortless performance lies hours of hard work and discipline,” he remarked, encouraging young musicians to embrace daily practice and remain committed if they wish to pursue music as a profession.
Theluo also emphasized that the principle of discipline extends beyond music to all professions, urging students to value persistence and consistency in their journey.
Institute Director Surhuveyi Tetseo, in his welcome note, shared that months of preparation went into the recital, with both teachers and students working diligently to present their original works.
