India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thunderstorm at many places with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Arunachal during Sept 19-20; Assam & Meghalaya during Sept 19-24 and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during Sept 19-24 with isolated very heavy falls over Assam & Meghalaya on Sept 22.
IMD also stated that overall maximum temperatures during Sept 18-24 are very likely to be near normal or below normal in northeast region but likely to be above normal by 2-4°C September 25-October 1.
Withdrawal of the southwest monsoon has begun from northwestern regions marking the beginning of this year’s monsoon retreat from the country.
