Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed all shopkeepers, business establishments, and commercial entities operating within its jurisdiction that mandatory checking of fire extinguishers would be conducted by DMC enforcement team as part of safety compliance measures.
In a press release, DMC chief executive officer Thungchanbemo Tungoe noted that several shops and business establishments were operating without proper fire safety equipment.
Therefore, DMC has directed all establishments to ensure that functional fire extinguishers were installed and maintained in their premises at all times.
DMC cautioned that any shop or business found without a functional fire extinguisher during the inspection would be penalised as per the rules of the Dimapur Municipal Council.
All shopkeepers and business establishments have been directed to take necessary measures immediately to avoid penalties and to safeguard public safety.
RSF branch shifted: DMC has informed all colony GBs and chairmen that the residential sanitation fees (RSF) branch was being shifted from the old office at Kalibari Road to the new DMC Office located at the IDAN Building, Forest Colony, Dimapur.
Therefore, DMC has directed all colony GBs and chairmen to deposit the RSF receipt books at the new DMC Office, Forest Colony, Dimapur with effect from October 1, 2025,
