Kezoma-Kidima road, pipeline damaged by diverted traffic

DIMAPUR

Following the diversion of Manipur-bound heavy vehicles via the Kezoma-Kidima road (MDR) due to the NH-02 cut-off at Phesama, the road and adjacent village water pipeline in Kezoma have suffered extensive damage, disrupting water supply and causing hardship to residents.
According to DIPR report, to assess the situation, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, along with Revenue Officer Kevingoto Kulnu, EAC Kezocha Limakumla Pongener, Executive Engineer PHED Rural Kohima Er. Kedo Punyü, DDMO NSDMA Kohima Thejangulie Zao, SDO PHED, and other officials visited Kezoma village on September 19. They were joined by representatives from the Village Council, WATSAN committee, and other stakeholders.
During the meeting, the Kezoma Village Council reported that the high volume of diverted traffic, compounded by incessant rains, had severely deteriorated the road and damaged the village’s water pipeline.
Acknowledging the village’s cooperation during the diversion period, the DC informed that restoration of the Kezoma-Kidima road will be funded by NHIDCL and executed through the state agency.
The damaged water pipeline will be restored through joint efforts of the District Administration, PHED, and NSDMA. He also appreciated PHED Rural Kohima and NSDMA for their support. Executive Engineer PHED Rural Kohima assured that restoration work will commence by September 22 and is expected to be completed within 15 days.
