Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has expressed deep concern over the ongoing agitation by RMSA 2016 batch teachers, noting that the prolonged protest has disrupted school functioning and created uncertainty among students.
In a statement issued by ASU president Diezevisie Nakhro and general secretary Rajuselie Chücha, the union acknowledged the valuable service rendered by RMSA teachers over the years in shaping education and guiding students. It noted that teachers remain the cornerstone of society and that their role in nurturing future generations is duly recognized.
However, ASU stated that the continued agitation has hampered the smooth conduct of education and urged the State Government to respect and implement the rulings of the Gauhati High Court (Kohima Bench, March 16, 2022) and the Supreme Court of India (May 20, 2025), which had delivered clear and conclusive judgments on the matter.
ASU also extended its support to the ultimatum served by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on September 17, 2025 following its emergency presidential council meeting. It warned that failure to act within the stipulated time would compel the union to consider firm steps in the larger interest of the student community.
While acknowledging the genuine concerns of the teachers, ASU appealed to them to resume classes at the earliest, even as their grievances are addressed through proper channels. The union reiterated that the welfare of students remains its foremost concern and called upon both the government and the teachers to resolve the issue responsibly and without delay.
