In a significant stride toward youth empowerment and economic self-reliance, the Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) organized a seminar on “CMMFI and Bank Loan Subsidies” under the theme “Uplift Langpangkong” at Changtongya Town Hall on September 20. The event was held in collaboration with Swavalamban Connect Kendra (SCK), IDAN, Mokokchung, as part of LKM’s 75th Jubilee celebrations and followed resolutions adopted at Chuchuyimlang aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among youth in the Langpangkong range.
LKM president Imlinok welcomed participants and outlined the seminar’s objectives, emphasizing the need for financial linkages to support aspiring entrepreneurs. “Today’s youth possess education, training, skills, and wisdom, but many are unable to start their entrepreneurial journey due to financial constraints,” he said. He added that the seminar was a result of thorough research and reflected LKM’s commitment to fostering local entrepreneurship.
Imlinok also linked the initiative to LKM’s broader campaigns such as Clean Elections and Survival Mokokchung, noting that financially independent youth are less susceptible to monetary influence during elections. He stressed the importance of reducing the dominance of non-local businesses and encouraged youth to look beyond government jobs. Quoting the Bible, he urged them to “work hard and strive for excellence,” while highlighting Nagaland’s position as the state with the second highest unemployment rate in India.
The keynote exhortation was delivered by Dr. Akumtoshi Longkumer, a local entrepreneur, who inspired youth to embrace technology and pursue their own ventures. “Success is not in doing someone else’s work but in dedicating yourself to your own calling,” he said. Dr. Longkumer emphasized the importance of discipline, financial prudence, and clarity of purpose, urging young people to adopt a long-term vision and serious commitment. “Rich talk about things, poor talk about money problems, and the wealthy talk about ideas. Where do you want to be?” he challenged the audience. He also pledged to mentor unemployed youth through upcoming projects.
The seminar featured two technical sessions. Centre Manager of SCK, IDAN, Mokokchung, Temsurenla, presented insights into the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI), detailing its benefits and application process. Manager of State Bank of India, Tuli Branch, Chuba Zungba Ao, spoke on bank loans and subsidies available for startups. Both speakers emphasized the importance of vision, discipline, and hard work, encouraging youth to utilize financial schemes to launch their ventures.
The programme was chaired by Sentisenla, with an invocation by pastor of Nagamese Baptist Church, Limasungkum. Sangwa Jamir of LKM moderated the proceedings, Manen Pongen delivered the vote of thanks, and P. Onen Lkr led the mass prayer.
The seminar marked a pivotal moment in LKM’s mission to combat unemployment and cultivate a generation of self-reliant entrepreneurs in Nagaland.
