Patkai Christian College Evangelical Union celebrates golden jubilee

DIMAPUR

The Evangelical Union (EU) of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) commemorated its Golden Jubilee on September 21 with a heartfelt celebration themed “God’s Faithfulness – Lamentations 3:22-23.” The event marked 50 years of ministry since its founding in 1975, honoring decades of spiritual growth, student outreach, and unwavering commitment to Christian values.
The day began with the inauguration of a Jubilee monolith by Principal Emeritus Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the EU’s mission. A formal ceremony followed at the Bundrock Chapel-Auditorium, where founding members, past and present leaders, and well-wishers gathered to reflect on the journey of faith and service.
Bino Peseyie led the invocation, which included praise and worship sessions. Tokens of appreciation were presented to distinguished pioneers and leaders who laid the foundation of the ministry, including Rev. Dr. Shishak and the first EU president, S. R. Kent.
Delivering the keynote address, State Secretary of the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI) Nagaland and Principal of Trinity Theological College, Rev. Edward Mariizii, emphasized the ministry’s roots in the Word of God and prayer. He called on the younger generation to pursue spiritual maturity and authentic Christian witness, quoting Colossians 1:28-29. Rev. Edward likened the EU ministry to a mustard seed, small in its beginnings but destined to grow and offer shelter and life, urging students to sow seeds of faith in their campuses and beyond.
“As we celebrate 50 years, this jubilee is not just a time to look back but a call to move forward in faith. The vision and fire of our pioneers must continue with renewed passion in this generation,” he exhorted.
Additional greetings were shared by president of UESI Nagaland, Viketou Chüpou, along with former EU leaders and senior advisors. Speakers recalled the humble beginnings of the fellowship in 1975, when a small group of students, guided by Rev. Dr. Shishak, launched the ministry through prayer and vision.
The celebration featured special music by the EU family and the release of the Golden Jubilee Souvenir, dedicated in prayer by Rev. Dr. Shishak. The souvenir serves as a testament to God’s sustaining grace and chronicles five decades of ministry impact.
In its closing remarks, the Patkai EU reaffirmed its commitment to remain a Christ-centred student fellowship, continuing the legacy of faith for generations to come. The event concluded with a community feast, bringing together attendees in fellowship and gratitude.
