KMC notifies tobacco shops, retailers

DIMAPUR, SEP 22 (NPN)

To strengthen the implementation and enforcement of COTPA Act 2003, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has notified that tobacco vendor licence (TVL) would be mandatory for all retailers and retail shops engaged in tobacco vending activities and all such activities hereafter shall be under the total purview and supervision of the government.
In a notification, KMC chief executive officer Zapuno Sophie has, therefore, directed all traders operating within the jurisdiction of KMC to obtain the tobacco vendor licence (TVL) from the office of KMC, within one month from the date or issue or this notification.
