Meluri pipeline bridge collapses; water supply hit

DIMAPUR

In the early hours of September 16, amid incessant rainfall, the cable suspension truss bridge carrying the main water pipeline to Meluri district headquarters at Zathsü paddy field area (Tizu River) was washed away, resulting in a complete disruption of water supply to the town.
The incident has left residents in severe distress, as the damaged pipeline was the sole source of water supply to the district headquarters.
Local authorities and concerned citizens have appealed to the department concerned to take immediate action for restoration and relief.
