KVBKC constructs nallah gutter to address flood problem

DIMAPUR

To mitigate the misery of villagers affected by recent floods, the Kuda Village B-Khel Council (KVBKC) on September 22 stated that it had raised emergency funds and constructed a nallah gutter to channel accumulated floodwaters into the river.
In a press release, Kuda Village B-Khel chairman Ketusilie Sakhrie informed that a temporary structure measuring about 70 feet was built using high-grade CGI sheets, propped up by multiple sturdy bamboo stilts extending into the Dhansiri River from the eroded section.
The council stated that the gutter successfully channelled the accumulated floodwaters, providing temporary relief to residents. It identified Mao Colony as the worst-hit area under Kuda Village-B.
KVBKC said the recent monsoon rains caused substantial property loss, plot erosion, and flooding in many homes across the area.
While awaiting assistance from the government, the Kuda Village B-Khel authority, led by chairman and GB Pitor Khekho, mobilized meagre funds on a priority basis to alleviate public suffering despite its limited capacity.
The council has urged the government, district administration, NSDMA, and concerned agencies to expedite relief and flood control measures on top priority.
