The Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) has successfully concluded the second phase of its unit tour, covering 23 affiliated units between September 15 and 23. The tour aimed to assess the operational effectiveness of government institutions, medical offices and public services within the Lotha Middle Range.
Ina press release issued by LMRSU president Rhonbemo Murry and general secretary Lichon Kithan informed that during the inspection, LMRSU identified several concerning irregularities, particularly within government educational institutions. The union reported that some teachers were failing to adhere to their mandated class schedules, despite the academic year nearing its end and key syllabus components remaining incomplete. It also raised concerns over the inappropriate assignment of staff to the District Education Office (DEO) in Wokha, citing unresolved administrative issues.
In the healthcare sector, LMRSU’s inspection of Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Sub-Centers revealed irregular attendance among medical personnel. A significant number of staff were reportedly attached to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in Wokha rather than serving at their designated facilities. The union also uncovered evidence of proxy attachments across multiple centers, which it said undermines the integrity of healthcare delivery.
In response, LMRSU has called on higher authorities to ensure the immediate return of all staff to their assigned posts and directed irregular personnel to report to their respective stations within seven days. The union further demanded a thorough investigation into proxy attachments and warned that failure to comply would result in the public disclosure of names and positions of those involved.
Reaffirming its commitment to societal accountability, LMRSU stated it will continue monitoring the situation and advocate for corrective measures to uphold institutional discipline and service quality.
