15 NPGs, 33 tribal hohos, FNR adopt ‘Zunheboto Resolution’

DIMAPUR, SEP 27 (NPN)

Reaffirming unity, forgiveness and collective pursuit of an inclusive Naga political solution, 15 Naga Political Groups (NPGs), 33 Naga tribal hohos and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on Saturday adopted the “Zunheboto Resolution”. The meeting was held at Zunheboto Multi-Purpose Hall, during which the house adopted a four-point resolution.
Resolution of Appreciation: Naga tribal hohos, NPGs, the public, and FNR extended heartfelt appreciation to Angami Public Organization, Ao Senden and Sumi Hoho, along with their communities in Jotsoma, Ungma and Zunheboto, for their warm welcome and generous hospitality. Their graciousness and spirit of oneness affirmed the shared longing for reconciliation and unity among the Naga people, it said. The meeting acknowledged the leadership of the Sumi Hoho president and the executive team for their steadfast commitment in illuminating the path toward a shared Naga political future. It also appreciated Government of India for recognizing the “uniqueness of Naga history, the right to self-determine our future in consonance with our distinct identity.”
Resolution on the ‘Joint Naga Team’ and the Naga Machang: The meeting stressed that “the Naga political journey is not the possession of a few, but the inheritance of every village, every clan, and every generation,” calling it a sacred, collective ownership and deeper responsibility for all Nagas.
The meeting affirmed the urgent need for all Naga civil and religious bodies to support the ‘Naga Machang’ under the Council of Naga Cooperation and Relationship (CNCR).
It stated that the ‘Naga Machang’ is the common ground for all Nagas to unite on the basis of their historical and political rights. Describing it as more than an administrative task, the meeting termed it a moral summon to unity that required judicious action without delay.
The NPGs were urged to come together under one Machang without further delay and infuse life into it for the collective pursuit of an inclusive solution, while the CNCR would continue efforts to bring all NPGs together with renewed vigour.

Resolution on forgiveness and cooperation: The meeting noted that with the signing of the Covenant of Naga Reconciliation, factional violence had ceased, giving new hope to the Naga people. It acknowledged the genuineness and sincerity of the Naga Political Groups and their expressed desire for reconciliation, but stressed that this must lead to cooperation.
Calling for genuine forgiveness among NPGs, Naga tribal hohos and across all sections of the Naga people, the meeting declared that a Naga shared future was possible only through forgiveness and mutual respect. It further urged NPGs and tribal hohos to initiate processes of forgiveness within and among themselves to achieve Naga cooperation.

Resolution to request prayer: Recognizing the spiritual dimension of the journey, the meeting requested all churches and religious bodies of all faiths to hold prayer sessions across Naga areas during October 2025 for wisdom, healing and courage toward reconciliation and renewal. “May the sacred silence of prayer become the ground from which new hope arises,” the resolution stated.
