11 weapons recovered as security forces nab 4 militants in Manipur

Eleven different types of arms, including a modified sniper rifle, were recovered as security forces in strife-torn Manipur continued its crackdown on illegal weapons.
Security forces recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and other military items during an operation at Sangaithel Longa Koireng Crossing under Patsoi police station of Imphal West district on Sunday, the police said in its daily law and order update.
Manipur police, along with the security forces, have been conducting search operations to recover illegal arms to restore normalcy, maintain public order, and ensure the safety and security of citizens and their property. The 11 different types of weapons recovered in the operation were four single barrel guns, one modified sniper rifle, two 9mm pistols with magazines, two .32 pistols with magazines and two INSAS rifles with magazines.
The cache also included 120 rounds of different types of ammunition, three hand grenades, three detonators, two handsets, 14 helmets, three bulletproof plates and other items.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing crackdown on extortion and other criminal activities, the police and security forces also nabbed four militants belonging to different banned armed outfits during separate operations in Imphal West and Imphal East district on Sunday, police said.
One active cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei) was arrested from his locality at Phayeng Ching Khunou in Imphal West district.
He was identified as Angom Achou Singh (34) and one double-barrel rifle was recovered from his possession, the police said.
Another active cadre of the KCP (Maoist) faction was also arrested from his residence at Napetpalli in Imphal East district. He was identified as Ngairangbam Apollo Meetei (37). One active cadre of KCP (PWG) identified as Md Alam Khan (34) was also arrested from his residential locality at Khabeisoi in Imphal East district on the same day. One active cadre of PREPAK (Red Army) was arrested from Chanung in Imphal East district, the police said.
The arrests were made during intelligence based combing operations and cordon and search operations which were being carried out extensively to nab those involved in extortion and criminal activities in the state, they added.
The police along with the security forces were also continuing search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas across strife-affected districts of the strife-torn state.
